About
moving-insect.com
Formerly this page was known as thehpage.com, but people got too confused by its spelling. So there had to be a new name for the site. The name “moving insect” comes from the way I used to shoot pictures. I always tried to get a picture of people without them recognizing me taking pictures. So I had to hold the camera as if I was just walking around with it. As a result the perspective of most of the photos was from the bottom up. The camera was like an insect: crawling around next to my body, looking up on all those wandering people ...so this is how I came up with the name for the site.
The design of this page is the latest one of a series of approaches I created for a relaunch. Almost every time I thought that I would create a new version based on the latest design. But I was never satisfied with some aspects of the design. So at one point I just made the decision that this would be the one to be published.
The page makes some use of Javascript / AJAX features which include the slideshow (based on slimbox and mootools) and other small features like the fading effects or the comment preview. However I changed the slimbox code in order to get the close button on the top right corner and to have the navigation at the bottom. In addition to that I keep track of the number of photo views via AJAX.
